What is the initiative?
Worlds Within Words is a free storytelling and literacy program for youth in Parc-Extension. It combines tutoring with creative workshops—poetry, oral storytelling, and multimodal expression—to nurture narrative confidence and imagination.
What is your connection to your chosen community?
My connection to this community began through Jugaar Popups, where I wrote, collaborated on events, and built relationships rooted in shared diasporic experience. Over time, this became a space of reciprocity, working with artists, aunties, and youth to co-create moments of belonging.
What are you looking forward to this year?
I’m most excited to see how young people tell their own stories – to read their writing, in all its forms, and witness the worlds they build through language.
