Leadership and mentorship program empowering young Black women in Toronto through identity-centred workshops, professional development, and community building to strengthen future leaders.
What is your connection to your chosen community?
My connection to this community is both lived and ongoing. As a young Black woman, I have navigated many of the same barriers: limited access to mentorship, underrepresentation, and the need to constantly prove myself in spaces not built for us. These experiences shaped my commitment to creating affirming, community-driven spaces. Through my work in EDI programming and student leadership, I have built meaningful relationships rooted in trust, care, and reciprocity. I show up not only as a leader, but as someone deeply invested in the growth, success, and empowerment of this community.
What are you looking forward to this year?
I am most looking forward to building meaningful relationships and creating a space where young Black women can grow in confidence, leadership, and connection. I’m excited to witness the transformation that happens when individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered. I also look forward to learning alongside participants, mentors, and community partners, ensuring the initiative remains responsive and community-led. This year is an opportunity to build something intentional and impactful, and I’m excited to see how it grows and continues beyond the Fellowship.
