Asexual Queeries on Comprehensive Sex Education

What is your initiative?

This project is working alongside the Healthy Relationships for Youth (HRY) program at the Antigonish Women’s Resource Center to provide educators with the proper training to deliver comprehensive sexuality education. It will build on the curriculum delivered by HRY so that educators are receiving training congruent with youth.

What is your connection to your chosen community?

I am building off research I did during the summer of my second year of university which was researching asexual perspectives to sex education and establishing how an asexual perspective would help create better comprehensive sex education. I chose to partner with HRY because my time in the women’s and gender studies program at StFX has led to a working relationship with the Antigonish Women’s Resource Center and their values and goals perfectly align with my research.

What are you looking forward to this year?

I am so excited to work alongside people doing grassroots organizing and community-based activism. There is so much we will learn from each other and I cannot wait to go on this journey with such driven, like-minded folks!
