Improving Health Outcomes Through Patient Engagement

Initiative

Symbi Medical is a virtual primary care platform that provides users with a personalized health assistant and access to on-demand physician consultations. To build a system that is not limited by geographic barriers and financial constraints, our mobile-first platform is built to scale. Our mission is to create the world’s best primary care experience and to make healthcare completely accessible to everyone in the world.

Community Connection

My connection with this community stems from my early days as a personal support worker for adults with developmental exceptionalities. It was here that I was first exposed to some of our systemic healthcare problems in Canada. I then moved to Hong Kong where I was able to support early-stage medical technology companies while working at the venture capital firm Brinc. I spent the following summer in India as a health innovation researcher creating a documentary film on global health innovation. Recently, I have been working with a few Nova Scotia organizations to continue the development of Symbi Medical.

What do you hope to achieve?

The Pathy Foundation Fellowship is a unique opportunity that will allow me to spend time connecting with my community while developing an innovative solution to increase access to primary care. Throughout this 12-month program, I hope to gain a complete toolset in community-driven development which will support my career as a social entrepreneur.
